Before moving to Detroit, Michigan, USA, John McCreary Jarrell worked in the lead mines of his native state of Missouri. Southeastern Missouri was known as the “Lead Belt,” for the many lead mines located there. The photo is a postcard of Desloge Consolidated Lead Mill No. 3, located in John’s hometown of Desloge, Missouri. The Jarrell Family ultimately moved to Detroit, Michigan, USA to work in the automotive plants.
