John William Blumenstiel – Stover Manufacturing Company

John William Blumenstiel was born in Reichensachsen, Germany in 1883 and grew up in Freeport, Illinois. He worked at the Stover Manufacturing Company in the early 1900s. Stover manufactured farm and household implements, like the windmills pictured at left. John moved to Detroit in about 1906, to work for the Schermack Mailing Machine Company, founded by his brother-in-law, Joseph J.
