John McCreary Jarrell – Driller in the Lead Mines

John McCreary Jarrell – Driller in the Lead Mines. Before moving to Detroit, Michigan, USA, John McCreary Jarrell worked in the lead mines of his native state of Missouri. Southeastern Missouri was known as the “Lead Belt,” for the many lead mines located there. The photo is a postcard of St. Louis Smelting and Refining in Flat River, Missouri, USA. John’s hometown of Desloge, Missouri was next to Flat River. The Jarrell Family ultimately moved to Detroit, Michigan, USA to work in the automotive plants. John McCreary Jarrell was the Father of Vernon Lee Jarrell and my great-grandfather. #falknerjarrell #jarrellgenealogy #missouri #deslogemissouri #leadmine #missourihistory #familyhistory #genealogy #oldphotos #mininghistory #leadmining #jarrell #industrialphotography #mining #postcard #rppc #miner #mines #flatrivermo #miningcompany
