Death certificate for Peter Schermack of Fort Worth, Texas, USA. He was my first cousin, 3x removed. His parents were my 2x great-grandfather’s brother, Deputy U.S. Marshall John G. Schermack and his African-American life partner, Cherry Watson. They could not marry, due to miscegenation laws of the time. I found a newspaper article about John speaking against these laws early in the 20th Century, which was quite progressive for the time. Sadly, John’s newspaper obituary did not acknowledge his life partner or their 5 children. #falknerjarrell #ancestors #familyhistory #genealogy #genealogyphoto #ancestry #history #knowyouroots #family #ancestor #genealogyresearch #familytree #familyhistorian #findyourroots #traceyourroots #genealogia #familyarchives #savinghistory #findingroots #schermackgenealogy #schermack #usmarshals #deputyusmarshal #usmarshal #texas #galveston #miscegenation #mixedmarriage #miscegenationlaws #interracialmarriage
