Emma May Falkner (1909-1934) and her husband, Jesus Alfaro. She was my paternal grandfather’s sister, daughter of George Ernest Falkner, Sr. and Florence Jones Falkner. She married her dance partner, Jesus Alfaro, in 1926 under the name “Aurora Menendez,” representing her age as 19 years (she was 16). The couple parted in the early 1930s, when Emma went to New York City to seek work as a dancer. She travelled to Puerto Rico and Texas, looking for work. Sadly, she caught typhoid fever and died in 1934 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 25. Her stage name when she died was “Greta Kingston”, so her birth, marriage, and death records are all under different names.
