My great-great grandfather, Joseph J. Schermack, Sr. working in a tailor shop in Freeport, Illinois, USA, circa 1900. He is second from the right, by the window. He was born on 4 November 1844 in Heimbach, Neuwied, Rheinland, Prussia and arrived in New York City 29 May 1857. He moved to Freeport, Illinois, USA and married Amelia Schauer 20 June 1875.
