Shermac Universal Envelope Sealer, 1905

Shermac Universal Envelope Sealer, 1905. My great-great uncle, Joseph J. Schermack, Jr. left his hometown of Freeport, Illinois, USA in about 1902 and moved to Chicago to seek his fortune. He worked with a number of companies, trying to bring his inventions to market. In 1905, the Hall Office Specialty produced his Universal Envelope Sealer under the name “Shermac.” It retailed for $5 and boasted a capacity of 3500 envelopes per hour. I was lucky to be able to purchase this nice example for my collection. #schermack #schermackcompanies #josephjschermack #schermackgenealogy #officeequipment #officemachines #envelopesealer #stampvendingmachine #chicago #chicagohistory #hallofficespecialty #oldofficemachines #shermacuniversalenvelopesealer #shermac #universalenvelopesealer #falknerjarrell #postalhistory #officemachine #1900s #early1900s #greatgreatuncle #familyhistory #genealogy #genealogia #genealogist #genealogía #généalogie #genealogical #oldmachinery #oldmachine
